Appendectomy

Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix and will present itself most commonly with right lower abdominal pain. An appendectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix.

How do they remove my appendix?
There are two ways to surgically remove the appendix. The traditional open procedure requires an incision in the lower right abdomen to excise the appendix. The laparoscopic approach to removing the appendix requires approximately three small incisions in the abdomen. The appendix is then removed through the laparoscope.
